What a lovely sunny day. With not much work on today i was finished by 3 and decided a trip to pinchmill was on the cards. Had devised a plan to fish down the edge earlier in the week but with the weather a change of plan was in order. Floater fishing! When i arrived the were a couple of people fishing but not that many so plenty of swims to choose from. Got my roaming gear set and started looking for signs of fishing as i walked around the lake. Didn't take long for the first few fish to show themselves on the surface. Started by feeding some dog biscuits by catapult to check their reaction and build some confidence. After a couple of minutes they were feeding confidently so a cast was in order. Didn't take long and a fish was on and it was a lively one. Shot straight from centre of the lake under my feet and off down the bank to try find some snags. It managed to snag up in a bush and i taught it was a lost caused. Little coaxing later and the fight was back on. It was long and a nice 7lb mirror was in the net and back safely.

Moving on to my favourite swim to fish to the island. I set feeding 6-8 biscuits at a time and waiting for the fish to feed before refeeding. Two tactics i like to implement when i'm feeding for floater fishing is to feed two biscuits at a time, as when i cast out there is two small splashes, hookbait and small float. I also like to feed when the fish and taking the biscuits that are already out there as this help to build their confidence for when you cast out they don't spook off the splash. This allows you to cast to feeding fish and not have them spook allowing you to target specific (biggest) fish! Next 30-45 min was very frustrating with missed fish and fish turning off hookbait at last second. Played around with presentation slightly and resulted in a nice 9lb mirror.

Again another frustrating hr losing one fish and missing quite a few others. Then i started getting it right two casts and two fish. First was a lovely 10lb mirror and second was one of those specific fish i mentioned earlier that i cast too and had it. A new pb 14.6lb on scale and as you can see from pic its one of the lovely ghostie/koi carp he has stocked. Was delighted with this fish for two reasons. 1 new pb and two had one a couple of weeks back and had a guy take a pic that didn't save properly on my phone. I checked this time and had two pics taken to be safe!! Fished in the margins for a bit at the end and had a nice 6lb mirror on double corn. Altogether a very enjoyable session on a lovely afternoon.
Cheers and tight lines
